Medieval fortress Tuida is located in the town of Sliven, on the outskrirts of the Nature Park "Blue Stones". The fortress is surrounded by mountains and forest terrains and this makes the site a desirable tourist destination. 80% of the territory of the fortress are parks and green areas, with separate picnic zone. Sliven is a town in the Southeastern part of Bulgaria, 100 km from the Black Sea coast. The city is known as a place where three winds and three rivers are merged. Thanks to the constant currents observed in Sliven, the air is one of the cleanest in Bulgaria. Thanks to this, the city has won the Green City award several times. Tuida Fortress is located on the border between the town of Sliven and the nature park.
What are the Activities Performed by Museum Administration in Ecotourism Field??
The fortress has a system for separate waste collection. The fortress administration took participation in afforestation actions in cooperation with the team of the Sinite Kamani Nature Park. Joint initiatives with students for afforestation on the territory of the fortress. In partnership with the National Museum of the Textile Industry, two projects for dyeing fabrics with natural dyes from the area were implemented, in which visitors had the opportunity to prepare and use natural dyes on textiles. During the guided tour, the guides acquaints visitors not only with the history of the site, but also with the natural resources and opportunities for alternative tourism - eco routes, landmarks and areas, borders and historical sites in the nature park. The visitor center offers information on ecotourism in the region.

Medieval fortress Tuida is the largest archaeological monument in the municipality of Sliven. The village is located at not very high hill in the area Hisarlaka, on the outskirts of the town Sliven. Large-scalme, Tuida became the cultural and tourist heart of Sliven. In the six years since the opening of the site excavations of the hill began in 1982 and continued until the 90s of the twentieth century. The fortress covers an area of 42 acres and is in the form of fairly regular quadrilateral oriented in the cardinal directions. There are two gates - north and south, located almost on a straight line four round towers at the corners of the fortress and a rectangular tower on the east wall. The materials found during excavations show that the site was inhabited for a very long period of time: from VI millennium. BC. to beginning of the XIII century AD. Future Projects for Ecotourism
Medieval fortress Tuida is a part of an integrated project that will start in 2021 to improve cultural, tourist and natural sites, which will be included in a common tourist route. The project is funded by the European program "Growing Regions" and includes the following activities: Improvement of green and park areas; Improvement of infrastructure; Overhaul of the open chairlift; Restoration of museum sites, etc.
